BOOTCAMP FACULTY
Kate Matthews
Style Coach
Kate Matthews has been in the image business since the age of six when she got her hands on her first makeover client—her dear cat Cynthia. She’s come along way since then, and to the relief of cats everywhere, has moved on to human subjects and has become a professional wardrobe stylist and brand consultant.
She began her career in the music business in 2006 while finishing her Marketing degree at the U of S. Soon after convocation she focused on artist management and a variety of opportunities in the music industry. In 2012, Kate was offered a position in the fashion department at ELLE magazine where she wrote articles, interviewed celebrities and worked with top photographers and models.
Since working at ELLE, Kate has found her niche as an image and brand consultant for musicians, which allows her to combine her love of fashion, music and marketing. Kate approaches branding and wardrobe styling from a “big picture” perspective that is tailored specifically to the music industry. Her work is informed not only by the visual elements of fashion—but also by the artist as a whole—their music, brand, marketing strategy, career goals, personality, history, artistic references and so on. Kate’s focus is working on photo shoots as a wardrobe stylist and creative director where her goal is to help artists create and convey their unique, authentic brand.
She has been nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award, and her placement and client list includes ELLE Magazine, Globe & Mail, National Post, Canadian Musician, Warner Music Canada, Live Nation, CityTV, CTV, GLOBAL, CBC, the Food Network and more.
She is thrilled to be part of Project Wild and is looking forward to spending time with her fellow faculty, the organizing team and all of the incredibly talented artists at boot camp!
