5 Questions with DOMINO

Project WILD would like you to know each of the 2016 Top 12 even better. We prepared five questions for each of the artists/bands to help us learn a little more.

1. What brought you to country music?

We have all been drawn to Country music at different points of our life. All of us growing up had CFCW on our family’s kitchen radio; that started a long love of Country Music; instilling it at an early age. We are all drawn to the strong storytelling of country music, and the way country music can bring out a variety of emotions.

2. When did you write your first song – as an artist or as a band?

Kent and Luanne both started writing as teenagers, and thankfully have gotten a lot better at it since then! As a group our first song that we wrote together was “In a Small Town” back in 2012. We were asked by Kent’s home town of Donalda, AB to write a song for the Big Valley Jamboree Contest to bring BVJ to a small town in Alberta. That was our first co-write as a band and can be found on our album Scrapbook.

3. If you could go on tour opening for any performing artist right now who would it be?

We all realized what huge fans we are of Canadian artists. Was difficult to narrow the list down, but we thought Ian Tyson, Corb Lund, Brett Kissel, Aaron Pritchett and Carolyn Dawn Johnson would be amazing to go out on tour with.
Outside of the Canadian artists, a tour with Little Big Town, or Lady A would be incredible as we feel we have a lot of similarities.

4. What is the best trend in country music right now?

We are loving the trend of the great story tellers and singer songwriters coming back in to Country Music. Folks like Chris Stapelton and Jamie Johnson are starting to become mainstream and we love that! Slowly more and more female singers are making it back on to the charts, and that is a good thing!

5. What part of Project WILD are you most looking forward to?

The whole program is going to be incredible but Boot camp is where we feel the most knowledge will be gained. Having key industry professionals taking the time to offer hands on advice, mentorship and the chance to collaborate with the other Project Wild artists will be so valuable. Not to mention the camaraderie with fellow artists will be an additional bonus.
