Project WILD would like you to know each of the 2016 Top 12 even better. We prepared five questions for each of the artists/bands to help us learn a little more.
1. What brought you to country music?
I feel like country music was bred into me from the start. I grew up on a farm in a very musically inclined family so there was always music of some sort going on and Country was always our genre of choice. When I first started performing I performed quite a bit of pop as I was pretty young and that’s what I was listening to at the time, but before long my love of Country took over and I was headed to Nashville to start my journey!
2. When did you write your first song – as an artist or as a band?
I took my first trip to Nashville when I was 14 and started co-writing at that point.I had always had an interest in songwriting but the first real experience I had was writing with various songwriters in Nashville. One of the most memorable for me in the first few days was writing with Karen Staley in a hotel room about my middle school lifestyle. Always so cool for me to look back at experiences like that and how they have shaped my writing style now.
3. If you could go on tour opening for any performing artist right now who would it be?
Chris Stapleton is probably my favorite artist on radio right now as he has really carved a new path in the industry. I love his vocal stylings and I absolutely idolize his songwriting!
4. What is the best trend in country music right now?
I think my favorite country music trend right now is how much roots and rock is coming into the country sound! I love the folk songwriting style that is being played with an edgy feel to it, so original and definitely draws my ear!
5. What part of Project WILD are you most looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to heading out to boot camp. I can’t wait to get some coaching on stage, to work with the other artists and do some songwriting with them, and to step it up with all of the behind the scenes things like social media and my team! There are so many things to be taken in from this experience, I can’t wait to be submerged in the knowledge that is to come!
