Project WILD would like you to know each of the 2019 Top 12 even better. We prepared five questions for each of the artists/bands to help us learn a little more.
- What brought you to country/roots music?
Like most country artists, I grew up as a small town kid. A town that revolved around country music. My grandfather played as well as most of my family. We are considered one of the “musical families” in our town, and making music together is a special bond we all have. Singing classic country songs on stages since I was able to talk led me to where I am today.
- When did you write your first song – as an artist or with a band?
I wrote my first song at church camp as a kid, it was part of a group challenge, and I really took the lead in the group. Although we did not win the challenge, that day I realized my love for songwriting, and I haven’t stopped writing since.
- If you could go on tour opening to any performing artist right now, who would it be?
Old Dominion has been playing in Canada lots lately. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go on tour with their favourite band? Maybe I could co write with them on the road. Those guys are some of the best writers on the planet.
- What is the best trend in country/roots music right now?
I’m really digging the melodic vibes some artists are coming out with. Its mind blowing. Artists like Old Dominion, Ryan Hurd, Mitchel Tenpenny. I’m a huge fan of the vibes they are bringing into country.
- What part of Project WILD are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to bootcamp the most. To spend that much time with so many amazing artists with such different minds, will be a great experience. To develop and have the chance to learn from some of the best in the business and spend time around people who all have a passion for music is going to feel great.
